A rhymed morality play in the ancient tradition
of Everyman, in which a young man named
Mannikin makes a journey toward the West, an analogy
for the journey of life.
With him comes his pious old Uncle Christian
Charity to advise him. However, the devil plots to
lead them astray by sending his Seven Deadly Sins to
tempt the young man along his journey. The bickering
Sins provide rowdy fun as they thoroughly bungle the
job.
The passage through life, represented by
the changing of the seasons, is punctuated by
hurdy-gurdy music appropriate to the period.
